Spaniel Portrait- a collection of my recent portraits of spaniels!

Writer: Amy Elizabeth Fine Art Amy Elizabeth Fine Art

I have had quite a glut of spaniel portraits to complete, so I thought it was time I wrote a blog post on them!

Spaniel Portrait- Gabbie the pet spaniel who also occasionally works..

Gabbie's portrait was commissioned as a Christmas gift. Her owner wanted a photo to represent she was both a much loved pet spaniel, but occasionally went out on shoots. We decided it was best to take some nice new photos, and I sent over a range of my photography guides to help her owner in taking the photo.

Here you can see from the final finished portrait, I had a wonderful reference photo to work from. She was positioned beautifully, in the green grass which contrasted nicely with her sandy fur. There is a lovely reflection in her eyes. This was an 8x10 inch pastel portrait, mounted to 10x12 inches.

Cocker Spaniel Portrait- Dolly the spaniel portrait from a gift voucher.

This lovely lady is Dolly. She was commissioned from a gift voucher. A relative of Dolly's owner who lived abroad wanted a lovely thoughtful gift. Gifting a voucher for a spaniel portrait allowed Dolly's owner to choose the perfect photo and the medium she wanted her portrait painting in. She chose a photo of Dolly relaxing on the sofa.

A spaniel portrait in oils- a memorial portrait of Scruff

Spaniel Portrait- Scruff the Spaniel in Oil Paint

I was commissioned by one of Scruff's owners to create a memorial portrait. They had previously comissioned one but it had been damaged in a house move, so I was tasked with creating a worthy replacement! The reference photo I had to use was beautiful, with a lovely pose and the colour from boats in the background. The portrait was going to be put on the wall in a canal boat, so it felt very fitting!

This spaniel portrait was created in oil paints and was 8x8 inches in size. The perfect size for a little boat! I offer framing for my oil paintings and here you can see an example of a black frame.
