About Us

My name is Amy and I live in Derbyshire, near the Peak District with my dog Monty. I am a self-taught pencil pet portrait artist, inspired by animals and the bonds that owners have with their pets. I create pastel and coloured pencil pet portraits from photographs taken by my clients.

There is nothing quite like the unconditional love you get from a pet that becomes a valued member of the family. I understand the important role they play in peoples lives and like to focus on creating the perfect portrait, for owners have to forever remind them of their special friend. As a dog owner, I now appreciate what an integral role they play in peoples lives, I would be lost without my boy Monty. I love to work with clients who clearly adore their pets and want to work with me as an artist to create a portrait of their pet, that they can treasure for years to come.

Monty my dog, is a 4 year old Black and Silver Miniature Schnauzer, and is my loyal pet portrait artist studio assistant. He can often be found curled up in his bed next to my desk. He is the best dog in the world (every dog owner has the best dog in the world don't they?). He barks a lot, loves a cuddle but won't admit it, and often needs a bit of persuasion to go on a walk, especially if it's raining!

One of our favourite places to go on holiday to together is the Lake District. It is a beautiful place and is very dog friendly. Monty enjoys the long walks, the abundance of other dogs to sniff, and the lakes to paddle in. (he never goes deep enough to swim, just enough to get his toes wet!)

One of my passions in life, other than drawing, is photography. Monty is my main subject, but I also enjoy photographing equestrian events (I like to spend all 3 days at Chatsworth Horse Trails) , landscapes and everyday life. I enjoy the fact that in photographing something, you are capturing a snapshot in time. I try very hard, in my work as a pet portrait artist who works from photographs, to help my clients improve their pet portrait photography. Not only does it help in their commission, but means that they have a chance to properly record their pets life through photographs too.

I'm truly passionate about my art and the lovely animals I am asked to draw. I am always so thrilled to be able to create a treasured portrait of your pet that will bring you joy for years to come.

I hope you have enjoyed viewing some photos and reading about me. If you would like to commission a pet portrait from me, don't hesitate to email me, I would love to hear all about you and your pets!
